Blogging is big business as it now seems that the whole world is blogging about something these days as the internet now has millions of new blogs added to it every single day of the week and they are covering every different subject you can think of.
Actuallly the speed at which this blogging trend has spread makes it seem like it has been around for as long as the internet which is now forty years old, but as a matter of fact online blogs have only been around for a little over ten or so years.
The actaul word “blog” is an abbreviation of the phrase weblog, which was the log being a kind of diary or personal and dated record, and they did not first appear until the late ninties.
Back then the early blogs were just of the personal blogs type that were posted by individuals who thought they had something important to say or they had a strong opinion to express online and found that the new internet, as it was then, was the right medium and that gave them the widest reach, which was true!
People planning to start a personal blog often wonder what they are going to write about and what subjects will find readers.
This is not a cause for concern for the aspiring blogger because his personal blog can be about any subject at all, deal with it in any way and be written in any kind of style because the cyber world is filled with all kinds of people and there is nothing that can be blogged about that will not find an audience of some kind.
Often little know but important issues have been brought to the publics notice through personal blogs. But even well known issues are subjects for person blogs when the blogger feels that they are not being seen in the proper light or that people do not appreciate their importance.
But personal blogs also deal with well known subject that make headlines every day because the bloggers feel that the full story is not being told or because they think that there is an aspect of the story that is being ignored or perhaps just to express their agreement or disagreement with popular opinion on it.
A personal blog that is popular and has a regular and loyal bunch of readers can be a money maker for the blogger as it is possible to sell advertising space on the blog and this can be a source of regular income to the author; although since the money paid depends on the regular readership, a blog has to be very popular to earn a significant amount.
Personal blogs are powerful tools for spreading news as can be seen from the fact that it was through blogs that the outside world came to know about the crack down on political protestors in Iran when foreign media was banned from the country.
Please note though that money making and social responsibility are really the secondary aspects of the main purpose of a personal blog, as the blog is really there just to allow the personal blogger to have his say and express their own opinions!
